Amiga 500 Chip memory
The Amiga 500 Chip memory: 512 KiB both the 68000 and the custom chips can reach. Everything the graphics, audio and disk hardware operates on has to live here, so its size limits what the machine can do without the CPU.

Editorial notes
Distinct from Fast memory, which only the CPU can see. This is why an Amiga's chip RAM and its total RAM are different figures answering different questions.
